aBOUT THE PROJECT

Showrunners is a fast-paced, trick-based roller-skating action game set in a zany televised competition where showmanship and flair are paramount. Players take on the role of Sasha – a fearless contestant fighting to win over audiences and survive the show’s insane and dynamic challenges.

Each level throws Sasha into new arenas filled with obstacles, enemies, and hazards, where chaining tricks, combat moves and maintaining speed earns fame and keeps the crowd roaring.

Blending combat and score-based systems with fluid skating mechanics, Showrunners promotes creativity and style – urging players to act, improvise, and take center stage.

Drawing inspiration from Jet Set Radio, Hi-Fi Rush, Neon White, and Rollerdrome, to capture the energy of a broadcast event merged with the intensity of high-speed action.

Over the course of DunDev, we’ll be focusing on pinning down the game’s central mechanics, creating additional levels, and balancing the audience-approval system. By the end of our residency, we should have a good demo ready for Steam, paving the way for Showrunners’ full release next year.

About the Studio

Mothlight Studio

Mothlight Studio is a Northampton, UK-based independent game development studio that consists of five developers with backgrounds in character art, design, programming, and animation. We came together as a team for the first time for Tranzfuser 2025, where we collaborated closely to develop our first title and discovered our combined passion for making games.

As a team, we’re passionate about creativity, collaboration, and curiosity – always pushing ourselves to learn new things and create experiences that players will love playing and remember. Whether it’s an action game that’s fast-paced or a more realistic, story-driven game, we attempt to create projects that we would be excited to play ourselves.

With DunDev, we look to further refine our production pipeline, improve our marketing and publishing approach, and learn better how to continue to grow as a sustainable studio. Our hope is that will enable us to further establish ourselves as a professional team, connect with the wider indie community, and create more games that are fun, engaging, and made with passion.

Ben Green

I’m the Founder and Creative Director at Mothlight Studio, combining my love for character art and game design to help shape our projects from the ground up. I handle production, creative direction, and studio management - making sure our games stay true to our vision.

After graduating from the University of Northampton, I was excited to follow a lifelong dream of becoming an indie developer. I enjoy solving problems and fixing bugs, my time working on Showrunners has taught me a lot and I'll still learn more.
